Sixteen is prom. Eight couples, one very long car, and a line of parents taking pictures at the curb. We run it from a Henderson or Summerlin house to the prom venue, usually a Strip ballroom or a resort out at Lake Las Vegas, and then on to a post-prom stop the parents have approved. The driver's number goes to a parent, the pickup time is set in writing, and nothing changes without a call to that parent.
It is also the quinceañera court car. The birthday girl, her chambelanes and damas, and the parents fit in one stretch from the church to the photo stop to the banquet hall, and the photos of fourteen teenagers stepping out of one car are the ones that get framed.
Sixteen seated is the number; fourteen in formalwear is where it feels right. There is no standing room and nobody misses it, because the point of this car is the arrival.
